The upper class of the well-known & popular “Dragon Wells of the West Lake” (which has a total of 13 different quality classes). Authentic Lung Ching is supposed to be processed only by hand, which requires a lot of skill and time, and thus increases the price of tea.
However, the quality of such tea corresponds to the price. Dragon wells of higher varieties give a crystal clear drink of a tender emerald color with an aroma as dense as orchids and a fresh saturated taste with fruit tones.
Lung Ching or also Long Jing 龙井 is a world-famous & very well known tea, typical for its unmistakable appearance. During processing in one of the first steps of production (Sha Qing), the tea leaves are flattened / shaped by hand on wok pans heated from below by wood. Thanks to this specific procedure, tea with typically flat leaves is created. The Dragon Well comes from the village of Long Jing (hence the name) in Zhejiang Province of the West Lake (Xi Hu).
Ceratophyllum or Gynostemma is a climbing plant from the pumpkin family, which originated in southern China. Low temperature resistance to -15°C. In winter, the above-ground part disappears, but reappears in spring. It can also be planted in pots. This plant is sometimes called five-leaf ginseng or southern ginseng; it has nothing to do with real ginseng (Panax ginseng).
