The A Li Shan \u963f\u91cc\u5c71 Mountains are located in the central-southern part of Taiwan. It is separated from Taiwan’s highest mountain, the Yushan, by the Qishan River. The highest peak is Mount Datashan (\u5927 \u5854\u5c71), which has a height of 2663 m.n.m. The famous Taiwanese song ‘A Li Shan De Gu Niang’ is about a girl from the A Li Shan Mountains. The name of the mountain range probably comes from the word ‘Alit’, which in several Taiwanese indigenous languages means ‘ancestor mountain’ (ancient mountain).<\/p>\n
